For a long time, Frank Spaziani had struck BC fans as a great defensive coordinator. When Gene Defilippo promised a "national search" for a new head coach for the BC football team, he instead chickened out and hired coach calzone here. During Spaziani first season, projected starting QB Dominique Davis transferred, so Spaz was left with 2 QB's with no experience. He got off to a good start with a 54-0 win over Northeastern, and his first season went relatively smooth with an 8-4 record and a loss to USC in the Emerald Bowl. He had impressive wins over Florida State, Wake Forest, Central Michigan, and NC State, and he hung with Notre Dame and USC, but his team laid eggs against Virginia Tech, Clemson, and North Carolina. His second season, however, was a different story. BC was picked by many to finish second in the ACC's Atlantic Divison with an easy schedule; BC had home games against Virginia Tech, Maryland, Virginia, Notre Dame, Clemson, Weber State, and Kent State. Also, BC had easy road games against Wake Forest, Duke, and Syracuse. The only tough games were going to NC State and Florida State. After rolling over Weber State and Kent State, BC lost 5 in a row, including losses at home to Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, and Maryland and on the road at Florida State and NC State. BC fans quickly turned on Coach Spaziani because of this, but he got lucky when the team won 5 straight games over Clemson, Wake Forest, Duke, Virginia, and Syracuse. The team then lost to #13 Nevada in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl.

This year, however, has not been so easy for the coach. BC has started 1-4, with the lone win being over FCS-level UMass. BC came into the first 5 games as "the easy part of the schedule." However, BC lost to Northwestern without Dan Persa, a decent UCF team, a horrible Duke team, and Wake Forest. Wake Forest. BC fans have been adopting the twitter hashtag #FireSpaz and even a twitter account, @FireSpaz appeared after BC's loss in week 2 to UCF. BC needs a better Athletic Director and a much better coach, because all Frank Spaziani has done is have his team fall short this season. He hasn't adjusted in games, and key injuries to BC in preseason practice and scrimmages have cost them. Let's hope that BC fires both Frank Spaziani and Gene Defilippo, so BC athletics doesn't fall into the dark ages.
